Washington State Department of Health's Office of Nutrition Services WIC program team updates the list of approved foods annually. WIC foods meet the special nutritional needs of pregnant, breastfeeding and postpartum moms, infants, and children up to 5 years old. WIC supports successful, long-term breastfeeding. The guide helps clients learn more about specific foods and how to shop for them. The WIC Shopping Guide is produced in English and eleven other languages (Amharic, Arabic, Burmese, Chinese, Korean, Oromo, Russian, Somali, Spanish, Tigrinya, and Vietnamese).
In 2016, The National WIC Association issued new WIC branding guidelines. The 2017 book was updated to match the look of the new guidelines and refresh imagery that has been reused for several years.
